Pain points of the salon appointments.

Be that about getting the right haircut but you end up looking hideous, or getting the right barber who understands you but instead gets the hair dressed from someone who just want to finish their job and watch the rest of “Family Man” on their TV screen. A salon appointment has become awkward and unsatisfied experience for people.

It’s more like a big box of puzzles but not put together. An individual may have a favorite salon but S/he has to wait on a long que which ends up wasting his/her precious time. At the end of the day, a messed up salon experience is the last thing we want to face when we’re spending time sorting and straightening things in our own lives!

In this blog we’re going to crack down on all of these issues faced by a customer at a salon as part of the big solution we’re working on to solve this problem!

Online Survey

Our case study is user-centric and hence user opinion matters and can contribute well to our perspective. User surveys can help identify the users' general attitude towards the product and also the necessity of such a product.

We surveyed a dynamic group of 109 people.

  • To which gender identity do you most identify?
  • Which age group describes you?
  • Whats your work status?
  • Survey questions

Summary:

Most people

  • Visit salons atleast once in two or three months
  • Wait for atleast 15-20 minutes for their turn without slot booking.
  • Consider it important to book a specific slot for themselves.

We had also included an open ended question in our survey :

What are the pain points/ frustrations that you face while booking/visiting a salon?

To which we received a variety of answers.

Response Summary:

All the above answers were consolidated and put together on the basis of their alikeness and was consolidated into six cards.

Survey Insights:

  • People prefer to know the rush hours in the salon so that they can plan their salon visit accordingly.
  • Most people find it difficult to book a slot via call and prefer a much hassle-free way.
  • Due to lack of proper service details, some find it difficult to convey the actual salon service they need.
  • People would like to know the availability of their favourite stylist and other important information regarding the treatment
  • People have expressed their difficulties in choosing an apt salon

Competitive Analysis

Assessing how the competitor approached the problem and solved it will serve as an inspiration. It will also help us analyse features that didnt work, so we can rectify those drawbacks and make your product stand out.

Conclusion

From the above survey we were able to find out the Hassles faced by a customer while visiting a salon. Thw whiole journey was identified and mapped from the data collected from the survey. This information will be benificial for the app we’re building to reduce the frictions involved and thereby ensuring a good and safe salon experience amidst the covid pandemic.
